Women’s Swimming & Diving Wins RCC Invitational, Men Place Second Overall

The men's and women's swimming & diving programs hosted the 2023 Riverside City College Invitational on Friday morning and hosted a field of tough CCCAA competitors. The women came out on top by scoring 602 points, while the men placed second overall with 523 points.

WOMEN

The Tigers edged out the Mt. San Antonio College Mounties by 12 points to grasp the top of the podium. The San Diego Mesa College Spartans followed in third place with 414 points.

Freshman Anabella Storar was dominant in all facets as she touched the wall first in her three events leading to a team-high 60 points. She earned the gold medal in the 1650 Free (19:21.82), 200 Fly (2:28.22) and 50 Free (5:37.42).

Freshman Jessie Nelson followed with 52 points highlighted by a top showing in the 400 IM (5:02.93). She followed with a second place showing in the 200 Breast (2:40.80), backed by a fourth place mark in the 200 IM (2:23.66).

Sophomore Lauren Loffelmacher landed on the podium in each event featuring a pair of silver medals in the 400 IM (5:03.23) and the 100 Back (1:03.41). She sealed her day with a third-place clip in the 200 IM (2:23.25).

Sophomore Lindsay Habegger finished with a set of third-place finishes coming in the 200 Free (2:06.19) and the 100 Free (58.63), while freshman Jaedan Johnson was responsible for a third-place mark in the 500 Free (5:52.22).

Freshman Nicole Lis added to the point total with a third-place showing in the 1650 Free (20:50.78). Freshman Julia Ashton pocketed a pair of silver medals in the one meter dive (170.05) and the three meter dive (153.65).

MEN

Mt. SAC took the top spot with a total point showing of 825. Riverside finished second with 523 points, followed by the Palomar College Comets in third place with 454 points.

To no surprise, sophomore Tyler LeDet was the top finisher for the Tigers with 54 total points. He landed atop the podium in the 200 Free (1:45.56), backed by two second-place marks in the 100 Back (54.00) and the 200 IM (2:00.20). All marks came in slightly below his seed time.

Freshman Elijah De Vera followed with three strong finishes highlighted by a gold medal performance in the 100 Fly (52.13). He began his day with a third-place mark in the 200 Free (1:47.42), backed by a second-place clip in the 50 Free (21.80).

Sophomore Ryland Cummings finished in second place in the 200 Back (2:03.18), while freshman Gerardo Garcia earned a bronze medal in the 400 IM (4:29.86).
