Riverside City College got the 2025 season underway Friday at the Santa Monica Tri, grabbing a three-set sweep over Cuyamaca College (25-19, 25-14, 25-19) before falling in three sets to host school Santa Monica College (25-13, 25-17, 25-14).
The Tigers sit 1-1 on the year after the first two matches, while the Corsairs open the year at 2-0, and the Coyotes start 0-2.
Sara Brittin and Jayden Franchere led the attack for RCC over the two matches, finishing with 10 kills each. Brittin finished with eight kills (8-2-16) against the Coyotes, while Franchere posted a team high four kills (4-0-11) against the Corsairs.
Riley Rush fueled the offense and finished with 30 assists over the course of the two games, while Keira Isgar and Savannah Smith each had 14 digs on Friday.
Riverside dominated Cuyamaca to get the season going, grabbing the win in three sets with 12 aces, but couldn't keep the momentum rolling against SMC.
The Tigers continue on the road at Cerritos College on Wednesday, before making their home debut on Friday against Mt. San Jacinto College at 5 p.m.
