Women’s Track & Field Earns Places Third in Conference Opener

The Riverside City College women's track and field team hosted the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Invitational to kick of conference action at home on Friday. The Tigers earned 147 points and placed third behind Orange Coast and Saddleback.

Orange Coast (176) earned the win, while the Tigers were three points away from tying with Saddleback (150). The Tigers had three first place finishes and 10 podium finishes.

Alejandra Rosales had a strong day with a set of first place finishes coming in the Discus (133' 4") and the Shot Put (37' 6"). She capped her day with a third place showing in the Hammer (112' 11").

The Tiger sprinters performed well highlighted by a first place finish in the 1600 M Relay (4:03.30) featuring Kayla Johnson, Zoe Ewell, Laila Wright and Briana Olukoju.

Olukoju finished first in the 100 M (12.48) and added a silver medal finish in the 200 M (25.83). Ewell got another taste of the gold as she finished atop the pack in the 400 M (1:02.19).  

Wright had a strong day in addition to her contribution in the relay with a second place finish in the 800 M (2:37.78) and third place showing in the 1500 M (5:12.16).

Leilani Nichols added a second place time in the 400 M Hurdles (1:23.86), while Brianna Mendez-Espain placed second in the 5000 M (20:51.83).

Triana Belladolla and Kyelyn Tucker round out the top performers as Belladolla place third in the Long Jump (15' 3.5"), while Tucker earned the bronze in the 100 M Hurdles. (19.68).
