Women’s Tennis Dominates Southwestern in Straight Sets

After a tough road trip, the Riverside City College women's tennis team returned to their home courts to take on the Southeastern College Jaguars in non-conference action. The Tigers had no issues against a limited Jaguar roster leading to a clean sweep by the final score of 9-0.

Top doubles duo Torrey Mateljan and Keeley Arednt set the tone off the bat with an 8-0 victory. Samantha Treat and Marvonna Vaxter followed with a dominant 8-1 victory as the number two doubles team. RCC hauled in the third doubles victory via forfeit.

Riverside continued on to sweep the five singles matches that were played. Treat acted as the top singles player and cruised to a 6-4, 6-1 win. Matlejan followed with a 6-0, 6-0 win, while Arendt held down the third position with a 6-1, 6-0 victory.

Jillian Stark hauled in a 6-3, 6-4 win at the fourth singles spot, while Adrielle Fotchi followed by bagging a 6-1, 6-1 win to round out the Tigers' sweep.

Riverside (2-1) will continue action at home on Tuesday, February 22 against Cypress to begin Orange Empire Conference (OEC) action.
