Women’s Tennis Snags Fourth-Straight, Beats Rio Hondo

The Riverside City College women's tennis team has been on a hot streak after not losing a single match at the Jaguar Invitational this past weekend. The Tigers did not simmer down on the road as they defeated Rio Hondo in straight match sweep.

Freshman Maxelle Bernie followed up her duo gold medals at the Jaguar Invitational with a two-set victory by the final count of 6-1, 6-0. Sophomore Torrey Mateljan followed with a dominant win at the number two position at 6-0, 6-0. She improved her overall record to 5-0.

Freshman Keeley Arendt continued to play at a high level with a victory at the third position at a score of 6-1, 6-2. Sophomore Hannah Stevenson followed with a 6-1, 6-1 victory. Sophomore Miranda Cardenas remained undefeated on the year after winning via forfeit.

Bernie and Mateljan linked up at the top doubles spot for an 8-2 wine, while Arendt and Cardenas followed with an 8-1 win. They have yet to lose as a duo.

Riverside (4-0) will hit the road on Thursday, February 13 against the College of the Desert Roadrunners at 2 p.m.
