Four Tigers Recognized on OEC All-Conference List

Four Tigers Recognized on OEC All-Conference List

A fierce foursome of Riverside City College softball players were named to the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) all-conference list after a strong finish in conference play and a playoff berth. Freshman shortstop Karter Williams and sophomore third baseman Danielle Lopez hauled in first-team honors, while sophomore starting pitcher Lorena Fitch earned second-team recognition. Sophomore second baseman Breanna Ceballos received honorable mention accolades.

Williams acted as the Tiger's hottest hitter for the majority of the season while provided a solid glove. In conference action, she posted a .472 batting average accompanied by a .694 slugging percentage and a .494 on-base percentage while hitting in the three hole and leading off a handful of games. She barreled a team-high 34 hits with 11 of them acting as extra base hits. She launched eight doubles and two round trippers leading to 14 RBI and 21 runs scored. She began her conference play by recording at least two hits in the first six conference games and continued on to record at least one hit in 18 conference games.  IN the field, she earned a .900 fielding percentage that included 31 put outs and 59 assists.

Lopez brought the thunder to the lineup featuring power and clutch ability to drive in runs. He was a monster by launching a team-high eight bombs in conference leading to a whopping .851 slugging percentage. Her 26 hits earned her a .388 batting average accompanied by a .443 on-base percentage. She drove in a team-high 34 RBI and recorded nine multi-hit games. She ended the season on a six-game hitting streak where she went 14-for-22 (.636) that included four homeruns, 15 RBI and six runs scored.

Fitch acted as Riverside's ace throughout the entire campaign as seen in 11 starts and 17 appearances. She earned an 8-3 record which included one complete game and one save. While she did not strike out many batters, she kept hitters off balance as seen in a 2.86 ERA. She allowed just three earned runs in her final four appearances as well.

Ceballos earned recognition on the honorable mention team after hitting .315 with a .500 slugging percentage and a 403 on-base clip. She barreled 17 base knocks with two acting as doubles, one as a three-bagger and one as a homerun. Furthermore, she scored eight times and drove in seven runs.
