Men’s Cross Country Competes in John Elders Invite, Narrowly Missed Podium

The Riverside City College men's cross country squad hit the trail for the first time in two weeks and faced off against some solid NCAA Division I, II, II and NAIA competition at CSU Fullerton's John Edlers Invitational on Friday night. They were the third-highest finishing collegiate squad and placed fourth overall.

Riverside, who was recently tabbed third in the state by the coaches association, leaned on the dominant legs of sophomore Gavyn Condit. He placed seventh overall with a mark of 24:22.6. He has not placed below seventh the entire season. Additionally, he was the highest finishing CCCAA competitor in the field.

Following suit was sophomore Raen Reyes, who placed 28th overall. He was the third-highest community college runner and earned a time of 25:22.3. Freshman Ernesto Ruiz placed 31st overall with a mark of 25:23.4 to round out Riverside's top-three.

Sophomore Vincent Navarro had a strong day by crossing the finish line with a mark of 25:26.2.2 to land him in 34th place, while sophomore Nicandro Rosas cruised to a 37th place mark at a clip reading 25:29.2

Sophomore Kyle Reden capped the top-50 finishers for the Tigers with a 45th place mark at a time of 25:41.8.
