RCC Makes Big Improvements in First OEC Contest
Just two days off a rough showing on its own home course, Riverside City College shaved 22 strokes off its team score to post a 404 – its lowest of the season so far – to open Orange Empire Conference action Wednesday.
Brayden Gilpin led the Tiger with a five-over par 77, while Rigo Navarro and Blake Richert each carded 81s. Caden Rossi posted an 82 and Carson Escorbedo and Elijah Gozalez were each a stroke behind at 83.
College of the Desert (363) won the event, while RCC took sixth out of nine teams. The Tigers were 10 strokes off a top five finish.
Riverside looks to keep making improvements as it heads to Navy Golf Course on March 10 for its second OEC matchup of the year, hosted by Cypress College.
