Men’s Golf Places Third in Season Opener

The Riverside City College men's golf team kicked off 202 action on Monday as they participated in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Tee Off Classic. Riverside landed on the podium as they placed third overall with a team stroke count of 384.

The Tigers were two strokes off of snagging second place as Mt. San Antonio edged them out. Cypress, the host college, hauled in the gold medal with a team mark of 374.

Sophomore Jared Jenkins was the top performer for the Tigers as he finished four-over at 74. He was fairly consistent throughout the day as seen in 13 pars, but no birdies.

Freshman Yarzar Aung finished seven strokes over par to pencil in a 77 in his first-career outing for Riverside. He birdied the third hole which was a short par three and followed by completing the front nine just three strokes over par. Sophomore Ben Delehanty matched his teammate's 77.  A double bogie on the 11th hole put him in a bind, but he finished strong with three-consecutive pars to close out his round.

The Tigers will continue action on Wednesday, February 12 at the Eagle Golf Classic.
