Men’s Golf Qualifies for SoCal Regionals

The Riverside City College men's golf team participated in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Championships on Monday morning and played two rounds at the Los Serranos Country Club in Chino Hills, CA in hopes of advancing to the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Southern California Regionals. The Tigers placed fourth overall with a combined stroke count of 777. With their score, the Tigers tied for third place in conference with an overall record of 23-27. They held the tie breaker with the other third-place team in Mt. San Antonio College, thus sending them to the SoCal regional round.

Conner Weissberg led the way for Riverside by carding a team-low 153. His strongest score was on the north course where he penciled a 74. After finishing the front nine three-over, he worked towards holing two birdies on the back nine to finish one-under.

Damian Quintanilla followed with a 154 that included a score of 76 on the south course. He, too, did not have a strong front nine, but he recovered nicely on the back nine. Ryan DeHart earned a total score of 156 as seen in a 77 on the north course. Brian Nielsen and Michael Herrera each finished with a total score of 157 as well.

The Tigers will travel to Bakersfield to compete in the SoCal Regional at the Bakersfield Country Club on Monday, May 7th.
