Men’s Golf Places Third in Riverside Invitational

The Riverside City College men's golf team hit the links on Monday morning and hosted a non-conference showdown against a handful of teams that included Orange Empire Conference (OEC) opponents at the Victoria Club in Riverside, CA.  The Tigers placed third behind Orange Coast and Cypress, respectfully, after earning a team stroke count of 373.

Sophomore Michael Herrera (Moreno Valley, CA) acted as Riverside's top golfer and finished with a 73. After finishing even on the front nine, he looked as if he would complete his round under par after holing three-consecutive birdies on 14, 15, and 16. Despite a rough 17th hole, he finished one over.

Sophomore Brian Nielsen (Moreno Valley, CA) finished with a 73 as well. He got off to a rough start after carding a double-bogey on the first hole, but continued on to notch three birdies on the front nine. He added one more birdie on the back nine to finish one over.

Freshman Conner Weissberg (Riverside, CA) followed with a 74 highlighted by a strong back nine. He recorded two birdies and one eagle coming on the 17th hole. Freshman Damien Quintanilla (Beamount, CA) was the next-best finisher for the Tigers with a 76 on the day.

Riverside will travel to Bakersfield, CA to compete in the SoCal Regional Preview on Monday, March 5th beginning at 11 a.m.
