Men’s Golf Places Second in Season Opener

The Riverside City College men's golf team kicked off its 2018 campaign by competing in the Tee Off Classic at Los Serranos GC. They Tigers placed second with an overall team score of 382. Sophomore Brian Nielsen (Riverside, CA) shared the podium with Cypress' Jay Chang as they each shot a 72.

Neilsen paced the pack with a Tiger best 72 to earn a tied for first-place showing. He remained consistent through the front nine by shooting two-under highlighted by a par-four birdie and a par-three birdie, respectfully. He struggled slightly on the back nine with a trio of bogeys, but was saved by three more birdies highlighted by his final birdie coming on the 18th hole.

Freshman Connor Weissberg (Riverside, CA) followed in fourth-place with an impressive 73. Weisberg tallied six birdies on the day. Jason Roberts placed 15th after signing his scorecard with a 78. He performed well on the back nine by shooting three birdies. Freshman Ryan DeHart (Riverside, CA) followed in 20th place after finishing with a 79. He finished with three birdies – one on the front nine and two on the back nine.

The Tigers (4-1) will continue action on Wednesday, February 14th in the Eagle Golf Invitational at Tukwet Canyon GC. Tee time is set for 11 a.m.
