Bio

Mike Richey enters his 15th season as the linebacker coach for the Tigers. He holds an associate of arts degree in accounting from San Bernardino Valley College and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Chapman University.

A former John W. North HS assistant coach, Richey began his coaching career at North H.S. in 1997 as a junior varsity assistant. He quickly proved his worth and climbed the ranks after just a year as an assistant. He was named the junior varsity head coach during his second season. After coaching the junior varsity to a 7-3 record he was promoted to the varsity staff where he coached the outside linebackers for four seasons.

In 2001, he was part of the staff that coached the John W. North HS to the CIF Championship. Richey has coached numerous All-American linebackers at RCC including Zaire Anderson (Nebraska), Eddie Lacy (Baylor), Wil Smith (Texas Tech), AJ Hotchkins (Oregon), Jona Moi (Oregon), and Nick Underwood (Maryland).  

Richey is a graduate of Redlands HS where he was a First Team All-Conference cornerback.  He eventually found his way to Division III Chapman University where he played one season. While participating for the Panthers, he earned First Team All-American honors. 

Richey, who is married to Teresa, is the administrator for Highlander Children's Services. He has one child, Jasmine.
