Viramontes & Achan Share SCFA Central Division Week Seven Offensive Player of the Week Honors

The No. 2 Riverside City College football program recently defeated Chaffey College by a wide margin of 56-7. Following the big victory and conserving their undefeated record, the Tigers saw a pair of student-athletes be named the Southern California Football Association (SCFA) Central Division Week Seven Co-Offensive Players of the Week. Sophomore quarterback Vic Viramontes (Norco, CA) hauls in his second recognition of the year, while freshman wide receiver Tanarious Achan (Lafayette, LA) joins him for his first-career nod.

Viramontes earns his second honor after following his week-four nod in a win over Ventura College on September 23rd. In the victory over Chaffey, Viramontes accounted for 36 total points. Through the air, he went 13-for-16 (81.3 completion percentage) with 207 yards and three touchdowns. The 6-1, 230 pounder displayed his agility on the ground once again by carting the ball nine times for 63 yards and three touchdowns. More impressively, he did all of this in the first half alone. On a state level, he is tied for first place in rushing touchdowns (10), second in rushing yards-per-game (129.5), and ninth in all-purpose yards-per-game (129.5).

Achan was the main beneficiary in the aerial strike on Saturday by hauling in six catches for 154 yards and a trio of touchdown. He averaged 26 yards-per-snag and did all of his damage in the first half to account for 18 total points. Both receiving and catching clips went for career-highs.

Below is a list of all SCFA Central Division Player of the Week awards so far this season:

Player Week Accolade
John Garibay One Special Teams
Vic Viramontes Four Offensive
Malik Holcomb Five Offensive
Vic Viramontes & Tanarious Achan Seven Co-Offensive

The Tigers return to action this Saturday, October 21st by hitting the road against L.A. Harbor at 6 p.m.
