Escher & Elias-Romero State Bound, Place Fifth in SoCal Regionals

Sophomore Natalie Escher and freshman Vashti Elias-Romero have been staples for the Riverside City College volleyball program throughout their respective careers. The pair continued to represent the Tigers on the sand at the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Southern Regional Individual Championships this past week and performed at a high level. Despite dropping their opening match, the two advanced to the individual state tournament after placing fifth overall.

Escher returns to the state stage for the second-consecutive season, while Elias-Romero will make her inaugural appearance. Escher was paired up with Brittney Diffine ('18) in last year's tournament and reached the round of 16.

The duo dropped the first match to Irvine Valley in three sets, but advanced to two-consecutive forfeits. They will look to haul in an individual state title beginning on Thursday, May 9 at 9 a.m. at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center in Chula Vista, CA.
