Women’s Swimming & Diving Tops OEC Competition for Second Time, Men Place Fourth

The Riverside City College men's and women's swimming & diving teams hosted the second Orange Empire Conference (OEC) meet of the season on Friday morning. The women reeled in their second-consecutive conference win by 90 points, while the men slightly missed the podium and placed fourth overall.

WOMEN

Lindsey Habegger earned the most points for the Tigers as she reeled in 57 points off three strong marks. She placed first overall in the 50 Free (26.76) and the 200 Free (2:06.57), while capping her day with a second place mark in the 100 Free (57.76).

Valerie Juarez followed with 53 total points after earning a first place time in the 200 Fly (2:34.53). She backed her efforts with a second place finish in the 100 Fly (1:06.36) and rounded out her day with a third place finish in the 100 Free (57.78).

Two Tigers finshed with 51 total points beginning with Loreai Carney holding it down on the diving board. She earned two first place marks in the three meter (256.27) and the one meter (236.77).

Lauren Loffelmacher matched Carney's 51 point effort and touched the wall first in the 200 Back (2:18.85). She started her day with a second place showing in the 400 IM (5:09.66).

Lara Pilar earned a second place finish in the 100 Back (1:03.43), while Julia Ashton placed third in the one meter (153.38) and the three meter (137.7).

MEN

Ben McCombs led the Tigers in scoring with 44 points after finishing top five in each event he participated. His efforts were highlighted by a third place finish in the 100 Free (49.79), backed by a pair of fifth place marks in the 50 Free (22.78) and the 100 Fly (57.14).

Llias Massignan had Riverside's lone first-place time of the day coming in the 1650 Free (18:06.59). Seth Zarn pocketed a third place mark in the 100 Breast (1:05.45), while Rylan Cummings placed just outside the top three in the 50 Free (22.75) to earn him fourth place.

Riverside will continue action at home on Friday, April 8 for the RCC Invitational at 11 a.m.
