Women Place First Overall, Men Place Slightly Miss Podium in OEC Meet #1

The Riverside City College swimming and diving program competed in the first Orange Empire Conference (OEC) meet of the season. The women performed at very high level as they placed first overall while the men followed in fifth place.

Women

The Tigers tallied 584 points leading to a first-place finish. Orange Coast (552) placed second, while Fullerton (336) finished third overall.

Freshman Lindsey Habegger led the Tigers with 57 total points with a pair of first place finishes in the 50 Free (26.29) and the 100 Free (58.00). She added a silver medal in the 200 Free (2:05.58 to round out her impressive performance. Freshman Lauren Loffelmacher landed on the podium twice with a second place finish in the 200 IM (2:23.51) and a third place showing in the 200 Back (2:25.17).

Freshman Lorelai Carney held it down on the diving board by earning a set of gold medals. She dominated the one meter (195.74) and the three meter (231.3) to sweep the competition. Freshman Julia Ashton followed with two third place finishes coming in the one meter (148.05) and the three meter (134.17).  

Freshman Lara Pilar earned second place in the 100 Back (1:03.62), while freshman Amber Nielsen placed third in the 500 Free (6:18.16). Freshman Valerie Juarez landed on the podium with a third place finish in the 200 Fly (1:08.22).

Men

The men were a handful of point shy from landing on the podium as they placed fourth overall (278.5). Orange Coast (682.5) placed first, while Golden West (485) and Saddleback (332) rounded out the top three.

Freshman Ilias Massignan had the strongest individual finish as he placed second in the 500 Free (5:07.79). Freshman Yanis Massignan hauled in a team-high 41 points. He placed fourth in the 200 IM (2:13.26) and sixth in the 200 Back (2:12.51) and the 1650 Free (19:47.15).
