Bio

Pene Talamaivao is entering his seventh year coaching the defensive line at Riverside City College (RCC) and also serves as the program's Director of strength and conditioning coach. During the 2013, 2014, and 2016 seasons, Talamaivao has helped the Tigers to seven conference championships. 

College:
Coach Pen earned a football scholarship to play collegiate football for the University of Utah.  He earned All-conference honors as First and Second Team honors for the Mountain West Conference as an All-Conference Player for the Utes (1997-1998).  In 1998 he was a pre-season All-American and ranked in the top 20 defensive linemen in the country. 

Coach Pen’s collegiate career was highly successful that he was invited to play in two prestigious  All-Star football games.  He played in one of the oldest All-Star games in Montgomery, Alabama, the Kelly Tires Blue & Gray All-Star Football Classic which was aired on ABC.   He also played in the Hooters All-Star Hula Bowl game where he played against the likes of Ricky Williams in Maui (Hawaii); which was aired on ESPN.

Coach Pen is ranked 56th overall best player at the University of Utah football history (Desert News).  For his Utah career, he totaled 113 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 11 pass break-ups and a sack.  Coach Pen is enshrined with the Class of 1994 Football Team (The school’s first gridiron squad to win 10 games and finish in the top 10 of the national polls) The 1994 Utes are considered one of Utah’s all-time great football teams at the University of Utah’s Football Hall of Fame.

Professional:
Coach Pen was invited to the NFL National Combine in Indianapolis in 1999.  In 1999 he was UDFA (un-drafted free agent) to the Buffalo Bills where he sustained an injury and ultimately was waived and later picked up by San Diego Chargers.  The San Diego Chargers allocated Coach Pen to play in the NFL-Europe league for the Amsterdam Admirals (1 year).  Upon his arrival back to San Diego, California, Coach Pen suffered yet another substantial injury that ultimately ended his career with the San Diego Chargers and the NFL altogether. It was considered a “career-ending injury”.  This devastating injury didn’t stop Coach Pen from his quest to pursue his passion to play professional football. 

He regained his status through countless doctors and dedicated training and a year later in 2001, played for the XFL (Xtreme Football League; than WWE ran by Vince McMahon) with the San Francisco Demons.  The Demons battled L.A. Xtreme in the national televised game on NBC, coined as the “Million-Dollar Game” similar to the NFL Super Bowl.

Coach Pen also played in Canada for the CFL (Canadian Football League).  Coach Pen played 2 years for the Ottawa Renegades in Ottawa, Ontario.  Upon his final stretch of living out his childhood dream of playing professional football- he played Arena Football League for the Detroit Fury.  In 2005 Coach Pen’s professional career came to an end.

Strength and Conditioning Coach and Master Trainer

Upon the end of his professional career, he immediately went to work, building his reputation as a top-high end trainer/coach.  Armed with experience, substantial training knowledge and credible background, he used all the experience he gained to write an outstanding training program that targeted all football players. He has been recognized for training countless high school and collegiate student-athletes as well as professional (NFL) athletes all across the United States.

In his free time, Talamaivao enjoys family time, working on family business and enjoying helping kids.

He is married to Oliie and has four kids - Eva (20), Oriana (19), Lia (14), and Julius (12).
