Women’s Cross Country Battles Tough Conditions, Places Fifth at Vanguard Invitational

Toeing the line under subpar condition can be difficult and it proved to be for the Riverside City College women's cross country team. After placing third in three of the last four meets, the Tigers dropped to fifth overall in a field against primarily two-year colleges.

Riverside narrowly missed the podium after earning a score of 114 and tallying an overall team mark of 1:42:28. They utilized a 20:29 average mile time as well.

Leading the charge was sophomore Briana Rodriguez who placed 12th overall with a time of 19:12.7. She had an average mile clip of 6:11.0. It is her second time this season she has acted as the Tiger's top runner.

Sophomore Helena Valdez follows with a time of 20:05.1 to earn her 25th overall, while freshman Brianna Espain-Mendez followed with a 29th place finish with a time of 20:34.6.

Sophomore Maria Rojas re-enters the Tiger's top five finishers with a time of 21:16.6. to earn her 39th overall, while freshman Soleil Russo strung together her best performance of the season with a 40th place finish. She crossed the finish line with a mark of 21:19.7.
