Women’s Cross Country Lands on Podium in CSUSB Coyote Challenge

The Riverside City College women's cross country team hit the road on Saturday morning to face off against local Division I SCU San Bernardino and company in the 2021 Coyote Challenge. The Tigers came ready by landing on the podium and placing third overall.

Riverside was one of four community college competitors and was the second-highest finisher after first-place Glendale. CSU San Bernardino edged them out for second place.

Paving the way for the second-consecutive meet was sophomore Helena Valdez as she placed eighth overall at a clip of 20:10.4. Freshman Elani Huntley followed behind in ninth place with a mark of 20:22.6 to reach the top-10.

Freshman Ashley Rodriguez snuck into the top-20 with a overall time of 21:02.3 to earn 16th place. Sophomore Maria Rojas landed in the top-25 with a 22:06.6 mark, while freshman Myra Mapramook capped off the top performances to the Tigers with a 27th place finish at a time of 22:42.2.

Riverside will continue action against local Division I competition on Saturday, September 18 at the UC Riverside Invitational. First gun is set for 7:30 a.m.
