Sarah Hollis' Gold Medal Finish Paces Tigers to Top Finish at Palomar Invite

Sophomore Sarah Hollis (Hemet HS) snapped the tape for the Riverside City College women's cross country team at the Palomar Invitational Friday evening as she finished atop the podium and led her team to a first-place finish.

Riverside placed first as a team with a total team mark of 1:41.52 which was approximately three seconds better than second-place Cuyamaca. She finished approximately 35 second better than the second-place finisher to prove her utter dominance.

Hollis draped herself in gold by finishing with a time of 18:23.3 that included an average mile time of 5:55.1. Sophomore Samantha Chapa (Martin Luther King HS) finished in third place with a time of 20:26.9, while sophomore Carissa Gomez (Citrus Valley HS) placed fourth with a mark of 20:45.5.

Freshman Sujey Esteva (La Sierra HS) earned an eighth-place finish with a time of 20:59.1, while freshman Maribel Madera (Elsinore HS) finished in 11th place with a mark of 21:17.9.

The Tigers will continue action on Friday, September 15th at the So Cal Preview at Central Park in Santa Clarita, CA.
