Tigers Take Third at Golden West Invite; Will Host Riverside Invite on October 7

HUNTINGTON BEACH -- Recording its fourth top-five finish in as many races, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers women's cross country team finished third at the Golden West Invitational at Central Park in Huntington Beach Friday (Sept. 23).

In the team standings, Glendale won the race (22 points) as it had the first, second, fifth, sixth and eighth finishers. Mt. San Antonio College was a distant second place (128 points), followed by Riverside City (140 points), College of the Canyons (147), and Saddleback (164).

Glendale sophomore Giselle Mosedo won the 5.0-kilometer race with a time of 19:10.8.

RCC sophomore Natalie Vaughn (Corona / Santiago HS '15) -- who is pictured -- led the Tigers as she finished 13th overall (20:08.8), followed by frosh Robin Valencia (Ontario Christian HS), who was 20th overall (20:24.6), frosh Carissa Gomez (Citrus Valley HS), who was 28th overall (20:46.4), frosh Esther Shader (San Jacinto / San Jacinto HS '16), who was 32nd overall (20:51.5), and frosh Ariel Yepez (Riverside / John W. North HS), who was 52nd overall (21:36.3).

The Tigers' sixth finisher was sophomore Nicole Cordero (Bloomington / Bloomington HS '12), who was 56th overall (21:46.8) and frosh Katelyn Hansen (Riverside / John W. North HS) was 62nd overall (22:01.9) and the Tigers' seventh finisher.


Riverside will be idle next week before hosting its Riverside Invite on Friday, Oct. 7, at the Riverside City Course.
