Tigers Finish Fifth at SoCal Preview Last Friday; Will Participate in Golden West Invite Friday

ORANGE -- Gaining a top-five finish for the third consecutive meet, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers women's cross country team finished fifth at the SoCal Preview last Friday (Sept. 16) which was held at Irvine Regional Park and hosted by the Orange Empire Conference (OEC).

Sophomore Giselle Mosedo of Glendale College won the 5.0-kilometer race with a time of 18:32.4.

RCC frosh Esther Shader (San Jacinto / San Jacinto HS '16) -- who is pictured -- led the Tigers and was 27th overall (20:08.2), followed by frosh Carissa Gomez (Citrus Valley HS), who was 31st overall (20:14.9), frosh Ariel Yepez (Riverside / John W. North HS), who was 48th overall (21:02.1), frosh Isabelle Brito (Corona HS '16), who was 62nd overall (21:27.6), and sophomore Nicole Cordero (Bloomington / Bloomington HS '12), who was 67th overall (21:34.7) to round out the top five finishers for the Tigers.

Additionally, RCC frosh Katelyn Hansen (Riverside / John W. North HS) was 77th overall (21:49.6) and sophomore Samantha Castillo (Riverside / La Sierra HS '15) was 127th overall (23:18.8).

In the team standings, Glendale won the race (27 points), followed by Mt. San Antonio College (148), College of the Canyons (210), Saddleback (213) and Riverside (222). 

The Tigers will participate in the Golden West Invite at Central Park in Huntington Beach on Friday, Sept. 23, at 10 a.m.
