No. 6 Riverside Falters Late in OEC Action to No. 4 OCC

It was an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) battle of not only some of the strongest teams in the conference, but in the state as No. 6 Riverside City College women's water polo team hosted the No. 4 Orange Coast College Pirates. It was a true back and forth affair throughout the duration of the contest, but a handful of miscues down the stretch allowed the Pirates to squeak away with the victory.

It came down to the final possessions of the game with two-consecutive Pirate scores after the Tigers held a 12-11 lead with under two minutes remaining. Two ejections allowed the Pirates to play with advantage leading to easier opportunities to score.

There were four lead changes and nine tied scores throughout the game. The Tigers saw three players net three goals featuring sophomore Lauren Loffelmacher, sophomore Taylor Mason and freshman Jessie Nelson. Mason led the trio with two assists, while sophomore Amber Nielsen led the team with three assists.

Sophomore Gabriella Fisher played well between the pipes leading to eight saves and many coming at crucial moments. She was tabbed with her third loss of the season.

Sophomore Lauren Nelson fired home a score and assisted on a pair, while freshman Kylee Hieda dished out two assists.
