Women’s Water Polo Wraps Up OCC Tournament with Two Wins

The Riverside City College women's water polo team continued positive momentum following a victory that handed Head Coach Doug Finfrock his 200th career victory. The Tigers defeated a pair of strong southern foes in Long Beach and Citrus to push their winning streak to three-consecutive games.

GAME ONE

The Tigers faced a 2-0 deficit early, but a three-goal second period pushed the score to three all entering into the second half. The continued to cart strong play in the second half as they scored five goals to the Viking's mere two leading to an 8-6 win.

It was the Tiger's closest margin of victory so far this season against a team that is a consisted playoff contender.

Freshman Grace Deen paced Riverside with two scores while also swiping a steal. Six other Tigers recorded a score as well.

Sophomore Taylor Mason was responsible for one of the netters. She also pocketed a pair of steals. Freshman Kennedy Guidizi led the squad with three steals, while sophomore Lauren Nelson had a goal, two assists and two drawn ejections.

Freshman Gabriella Fisher earned her second win of the year in the cage and hauled in 10 saves.

GAME TWO

Riverside controlled the tempo from the start as they burst of out the gates with five unanswered goals. They added another five-score period to close out the contest en route to a 14-5 victory over Citrus.

Freshman Jessie Nelson paced the pack with a career-high six goals. She drew an ejection and snatched a steal as well.

Sophomore Amber Nielsen followed with a season-high four goals, while Guidizi continued to compete on the defensive end with a game-high four steals. She added an assist as well.

Freshman Danielle Guzman earned the win after hauling in eight saves and going the distance. She notched a pair of steals as well.
