Women’s Water Polo Caps Regular Season with Commanding Win

The Riverside City College women's water polo team wrapped up the regular season schedule with an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) finale against the Saddleback College Bobcats. Riverside controlled the tempo the entire contest leading to an easy 12-4 win.

The Tigers have won five of their last six games and have limited their opponents to six goals or less; even in the lone loss. In this afternoon's win over the Bobcats, five players scored at least one goal with freshman Lauren Nelson leading the charge.

Nelson scored a game-high and career-high five netters while outscoring the entire Bobcats' team combined. October play has been a monster month for her as she has netted at least one goal in six-consecutive games. Furthermore, she facilitated two goals, pocketed one steal and drew a pair of ejections.

Freshman tandem Amber Nielsen and Lauren Loffelmacher were active in the offensive scheme as seen in two goals and two assists each. Freshman Taylor Mason netted two goals as well.

Freshman goalkeepers Gabriella Fisher and McKenna Ortiz shared duties in the cage with Fisher (8-5) earning the win and six saves. Ortiz played the second half and notched seven stops.

Riverside (13-8, 3-2 OEC) will finish as the third seed entering into the OEC tournament beginning next Friday, November 5 hosted by Orange Coast College.
