Deep Bench Leads Tigers Past Saddleback in Conference Finale

It was an offensive melee in the Riverside Aquatics Center Wednesday afternoon as the Riverside City College women's water polo team hosted the Saddleback College Gauchos in the finale of Orange Empire Conference (OEC) regular season play. The Tigers burst out of the gate to fire home seven first-quarter goals and never looked back, leading to a 19-6 tromping.

Nearly the entire roster saw time in the pool and nine players fired home a score. Sophomore Kate Fox paced the pack with four goals, backed by sophomore Caelan Loroff and freshman Kameryn Pfeiffer firing home three goals each.

Sophomore Nikkol Webber, who is typically a pacing force in goals scored, took on more of a facilitating role as seen in four assist. However, she did score a pair of netters. Freshman tandem Hannah Peercy and Amelia Bennett followed suit by recording two assists each.

All three goalkeepers saw time in the contest with sophomore Hannah McCarley playing the first two frames in the cage. She picked up the win. Sophomore Katelin Simonson and freshman Madison Button each played one quarter and recorded five saves each.

Riverside wraps up regular season play with an overall record of 16-6 and a flawless 5-0 mark in conference action. They will enter the OEC Championships as the top seed and play the winner of the Cypress versus Saddleback contest on Thursday, November 1 at 2:20 p.m.
