Women’s Water Polo Takes Home Fourth-Straight with Ease

The Riverside City College women's water polo squad has been on an absolute tear in the month of October. While notching a victory in each game this month, they have also reigned supreme in 10 of their last 11 contests and have not shown any signs of letting up on the gas pedal. The Golden West College Rustlers looked to stand in their way during an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) showdown this afternoon, but the Tigers simply ran them over en route to a dominating 11-1 victory.

It is difficult to single out a certain strength for Riverside, because they possess so many assets.

We can start with their offense.

Riverside has outscored their opponents 35-9 in the month of October and have won each game by at least three scores.

In tonight's victory, seven different Tigers fired home goals with sophomore tandem Nikkol Webber and Caelan Loroff each netting three. Freshman Hannah Peercy chipped in a score, but her damaged came from her vision of the pool while assisting on five scores. Furthermore, she drew three ejections.

Now, let's move on to the defense.

With the absence of sophomore goalkeeper Hannah McCarley, freshman Madison Button stepped up and filled in with seamlessly no issues. After allowing just one goal in the early stages of the contest, she followed by providing the Rustlers with a goose egg in the cage en route to 13 saves and the victory. She pushed her record to 2-0 on the year.

To top it all off, sophomore goalkeeper Katelin Simonson finished out the contest and recorded three saves while not allowing a score.

Riverside (12-4, 4-0 OEC) will participate in the Long Beach Tournament beginning Friday, October 19 through October 20. They will then cap off regular season and conference play against Saddleback at home on Wednesday, October 24 at 3 p.m.
