Women’s Water Polo Notches Two Wins in Home Tournament

The Riverside City College women's water polo team hosted a grip of competitors this past a weekend in the RCC Invitational. RCC strung together a solid weekend by defeating Ventura and Citrus leading to a 2-1 record at tournament's end.

The first win of the weekend came in the opening contest against Ventura by the final score of 16-3. Sophomore center Kate Fox continued to lead the Tigers on the offensive front by netting a total of six goals. She was also a useful facilitator by dishing out a pair of assists. Furthermore, her defensive presence was of benefit as she pocketed two steals.

Freshman attacker Amelia Bennett was a huge factor in all facets of the contest by scoring three goals, swiping three steals, and recording two assists. Freshman attacker Patricija Ostarcevic and freshman attacker Hannah Peercy followed with two scores as well.

The Tigers went on to defeat Citrus College on Saturday after suffering a 5-3 loss to Santa Barbara in the first game.

Sophomore goalkeeper Hannah McCarley pushed her season win's record to over .500 as she patrolled the cage for eight saves following a career-best 26 save performance just three games prior. She also added two assists.

Fox added two more goals, while freshman attacker Michelle Hiller netted a pair of scores. Sophomore attackers Nikkol Webber and Starla Tagactac fired home two goals as well.

The Tigers (4-3) will kick off a four-game road trip on Wednesday, September 26 starting with conference contest against Orange Coast.
