Women’s Water Polo Earns First Win of Season

The Riverside City College women's water polo team faced off against Sacramento City College this morning for their third game in the past two days. After suffering two losses on Friday, the Tigers bounced back with a dominating victory over Sac City by the final score of 21-4.

Riverside came out of the gates hot by firing home nine netters in the opening quarter. Freshman attacker Amelia Bennet cashed in the opening goal, while freshman defender Michelle Hiller followed with a score. Sophomore center Kate Fox planted two-straight scores in the cage, backed by three-consecutive goals from freshman attacker Patricija Ostarcevic leading to a 9-0 advantage.

The Tigers continued to have their way on offense highlighted by a total of 10 goals in the following two quarters. Sophomore attacker Makenna Hurdle highlighted the arsenal with three scores. Fox added two more scores en route to a 21-4 win.

Fox and Ostarcevic paced the squad with four goals each, while freshman defender Hannah Peercy followed with three netters. Peercy also added three assists.

Sophomore attacker Nikkol Webber and Bennet notched three assists.

Sophomore goalkeeper Katelin Simonson earned the Tiger's first win of the year after manning the cage for the duration of the showdown. She earned three saves and a steal.
