Riverside Women’s Water Polo Dominates Home Pond in 16-4 Win over AHC

The Riverside City College water polo team has been on a tear of late by hauling in three-straight victories while outscoring their opponents by a margin of 62-10. The high-flying offensive trend continued upward this Friday morning by hauling in a 16-4 victory over the Allan Hancock College Bulldogs in the first game of the Riverside City College Tournament.

The Tigers wasted no time jumping out to a sizable leading with freshman center Kate Fox (Murrieta, CA) firing home three-consecutive goals. Freshman attacker Caelan Loroff (Calgary, AB) capped of the first quarter with a goal to grab a quick 4-0 advantage.

After Allan Hancock struck first in the second quarter, Riverside responded with four-straight netters. Loroff followed her first-quarter goal with another, backed by a goal from freshman attacker Katy Peterson (Menifee, CA) and sophomore attacker Dafne Garcia (Mexico City, NM) leading to an 8-1 advantage at halftime.

Loroff continued to cart a hot hand by firing another score in the opening minute of the third quarter. Sophomore attacker Josceline Godinez (Menifee, CA) notched her first score of the season later in the frame. Sophomore attacker Megan Upton (Corona, CA) capped off the scoring highlights with two-consecutive scores in the fourth quarter en route to a 16-4 victory.

Freshman goalkeeper Hannah McCarley (Riverside, CA) remained undefeated between the pipes by reeling in her third victory of the season. She finished with three saves and one assist.

Fox lead the offense in scoring with four netters, while Loroff backed her with a season-high three goals. Garcia put together a well-rounded performance by pocketing a game-high six steals to go along with two goals and two assists.

The Tigers (4-o) continue play at 5:45 p.m. against Santa Barbara City College.
