Tigers Lead from the Start, Win, 12-3, at Cypress Wednesday

CYPRESS -- Leading from start to finish, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers women's water polo squad posted a 12-3 win over the host Cypress College Chargers in an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) game Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 21).

Riverside (14-2 overall, 4-0 OEC) led, 4-0, after the first quarter, 7-1, at halftime and, 9-2, after three quarters.

Frosh attacker Mary Myers (Riverside / M.L. King HS '15) led the Tigers with three goals, three assists and seven steals. Frosh attacker Citlali Salazar (Eastvale / Eleanor Roosevelt HS '15) -- who is pictured -- added three goals, one assist and five steals. Frosh two-meter offensive player Jacqueline Godinez (Menifee / Vista Murrieta HS '15) had three goals and one steal.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kayla Chang (Laie, HI / Kahuku (Oahu) HS '14) started and played the entire first half and recorded six saves. Frosh GK Ariana Olmos (Redlands / Redlands East Valley HS '15) played the entire second half and had five saves.

Riverside will next compete in the Battle At The Beach Tournament on Friday-Saturday, Oct. 23-24. On Friday, Oct. 23, RCC will open pool D play against the Sierra College Wolverines at Cerritos College in Norwalk.
