Riverside Gets No. 2 seed and First-round Bye in SoCal Regionals.

RIVERSIDE -- Even though it lost its final regular season game in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Championship tournament championship game, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers women's water polo team has received a bye in the Southern California Regional Tournament.

Riverside (24-4 overall) has been seeded No. 2 in the tournament which begins on Thursday, Nov. 13, at Citrus College in Glendora.

On Friday, Nov. 14, at 11:30 a.m., the Tigers will face the winner between the No. 7 seed Long Beach City College Vikings (20-10) and the No. 10 seed Santa Barbara City College Vaqueros (16-12), who play each other on Thursday, Nov. 13, at 12 p.m.

RCC lost, 10-9, to the No. 1 seed Fullerton College Hornets (30-0) in the OEC Tournament championship game last Saturday (Nov. 8). In that game, the game was tied, 2-2, after the first quarter, and 5-5 at halftime. Fullerton led, 8-7, heading into the fourth quarter and hung on for the win.

Sophomore Nikki Bell (Riverside / M.L. King '13) again led the way for the Tigers with a team-high four goals. Frosh goalkeeper Kayla Chang (Kahuku, HI), had eight saves.

The Regionals continue through Saturday, Nov. 15, with all games at Citrus College.
