RCC Women Water Poloists Avenge Last Season's Losses with 13-4 Win Over Golden West

RIVERSIDE -- In a rematch of last season's state championship game, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers women's water polo squad scored early and often and went on to post a 13-4 Orange Empire Conference (OEC) game over the defending state champion Golden West College (GWC) Rustlers Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 22) at the Riverside Aquatics Complex at the RCC campus.

Riverside (19-1, 5-0 OEC), the 2013 state tournament runner-up which posted a 28-5 overall record (with all five losses coming against GWC), scored five first-quarter goals and led, 8-3, at halftime.

Sophomore Nikki Bell (Riverside / M.L. King '13), who is pictured, again led the way for the Tigers with a game-high six goals. Melissa Woody scored thrice and Brandi Carroll sored twice for RCC.

Sophomore goalkeeper Nikki Vaughn (Riverside / La Sierra '13) had eight saves in three quarters. 

With the loss, Golden West fell to 11-4, 3-2 OEC.

RCC will be back in action this weekend at the Long Beach Tournament.
