Tigers (18-1 overall) Win 13-5 over American River and 11-5 over Long Beach City

RIVERSIDE -- Posting a pair of victories in its own tournament, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers women's water polo squad opened with a 13-5 win over the American River College (ARC) Beavers and then finished with 11-5 win over the Long Beach City College (LBCC) Vikings Friday (Oct. 17) in the Fourth Annual RCC Mini Tournament.

Riverside (18-1 overall, the 2013 state tournament runner-up, led, 5-2, after the first quarter, 11-3, at halftime, and 12-4, after three quarters against ARC.

Sophomore Nikki Bell (Riverside / M.L. King '13), again led the way for the Tigers with a whopping eight goals and added six steals. Five other Tigers scored at least onhe goal

Sophomore goalkeeper Nikki Vaughn (Riverside / La Sierra '13), who is pictured, played in the fourth quarter, logged three saves (one goal allowed). 

With the win, the Tigers will next prepare for an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) game against the Golden West College (GWC) Rustlers (11-3, 3-1 OEC) which will be played on Wednesday, Oct. 22, at 4 p.m. RCC is 4-0 in OEC action and tied for first place with Fullerton (20-0, 4-0 OEC).
