Tigers Women Water Poloists Remain Undefeated at 9-0

RANCHO CUCAMONGA -- The Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers women's water polo squad posted another pair of solid victories Saturday (Sept. 20) at the two-day Chaffey Tournament to remain undefeated on the season.

Riverside (9-0 overall) toppled the San Diego Mesa College (SDMC) Olympians, 14-4, before outlasting the host Chaffey College Panthers, 9-3.

Against SDMC, the game remained close for a half as RCC took a 6-3 lead into the break.  However, the Tigers roared to life in the third quarter and scored six unanswered goals, then cruised to a 14-4 victory.  Sophomore Nikki Bell (M.L. King '13) again led the way for the Tigers with eight goals and six other Tigers had one goal each.

In the second game of the day, and with only one hour rest, the Tigers took on host Chaffey College. The score was close through three quarters, but the Tigers defense held strong and a few late goals ended in a 9-3 victory for RCC.  Nikki Bell had five goals, sophomore Alia McMorris (M.L. King '13) had two goals and freshman goalkeeper Kayla Chang (Kahuku, Oahu, HI '13), who is pictured, went the distance recording nine saves and an assist.

The Tigers return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 24, when they visit the Santa Ana College Dons in an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) game beginning at 4 p.m.
