Tigers Plunder Five-Set Win at Orange Coast

COSTA MESA - Riverside City College remained undefeated in Orange Empire Conference play, pulling away with a five-set win on Friday at Orange Coast College.

After dropping the first set, 25-16, the Tigers earned a 25-19 set two win and 25-15 set three win to take the lead. The Pirates stole the fourth set, 25-23, but RCC pounded out a 15-12 win in the fifth-and-final set to take the match, 3-2.

Kilyn Hayes led the Tigers attack with 27 kills on 57 attacks, adding a pair of blocks in the win. Riley Chaffee put up 23 assists, adding 16 digs while Tabitha Irish added 19 digs on the back row.

RCC opens a three-match homestand this week, beginning with a OEC match on Wednesday against Santiago Canyon. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
