Elias-Romero and Urban Receive All-Conference Accolades

The Riverside City College women's indoor volleyball team missed out on postseason play for the third-consecutive season. Despite not earning the bid, the Tigers competed in some big matches and earned strong wins highlighted by an upset over Fullerton College, 3-1, in their second meeting. At the conclusion of the season, sophomore outside duo Vashti Elias-Romero and Jasmine Urban hauled in Orange Empire Conference (OEC) All-Conference accolades.

Elias-Romero earned her second All-Conference honor after being named to the second team in 2018. She elevated the First-Team All-Conference list after recording career marks with 294 kills, 300 digs, 3.59 kills-per-set and 27 total blocks. Furthermore, she ranked third on the team in service aces with 32. The sophomore standout was the leader in all aspects of the contest, but especially dangerous on offense. She landed in double-digit kills 14 times highlighted by a pair of 21 kills matches both coming in victories. Of those 14 double-digit kill games, 11 of them featured double-digit dig marks. She earned 15 double-digit digs games with a career-high 24 digs on two separate occasions.  In conference, she ranked third in kills and fourth in kills-per-set.

Urban experienced a breakout season after earning a starting role in her final season as a Tiger. She reeled in Second-Team All-Conference after acting as one of the top weapons for Riverside. She finished the season with 160 kills leading to a 1.90 kills-per-set mark. She was dynamic in the serving game featuring 28 service aces. Urban contributed on the defensive end as well as seen in 102 digs and 24 total blocks. She landed in double-digit kills five times on the season and in three-consecutive matches in early September. Four out of the five double-digit kill games came in victories.
