Indoor Volleyball Evens Out Conference Record with Win over Santiago Canyon

The Tigers have had a tough road in the past three Orange Empire Conference (OEC) showdowns as seen in three-consecutive straight-set defeats to put their record at 1-3 in the month of October. The competition has deemed difficult highlighted by a close set splits and showdowns against top-ranked opponents within the conference. Riverside rebounded nicely on Wednesday night to snap its three-game skid with a straight set crown over Santiago Canyon.

Riverside's offense was not silenced as a pair of Tigers landed in double-digit kills. Sophomore Amara Hill, who has been playing her strongest volleyball in recent games, reached double-digit kills for the first time this year. She hammered home 10 kills on 24 attempts leading to a .333 hitting percentage. She also recorded a block assist.

Sophomore Vashti Elias-Romero dominated per usual by landing in double-digit kills for the fifth time in six matches. She was two kills off her season-high mark of 19. She continued on to add 15 digs in the process.

Freshman Hailey Gray played every point of the contest leading to a career-high 44 assists. Sophomore Sadie Arganda manned the backline with poise en route to 22 digs. Freshman Miranda Gate recorded the lone service ace, while freshman Keeley Hober recorded four block assists and one solo stuff.

Riverside (9-8, 4-4 OEC) will continue action at home on Friday in a non-conference showdown featuring the Norseman of Mesabi Range College (MN). First serve is set for 6 p.m.
