Indoor Volleyball Snags Two at SBVC Quad

It only took six total sets to complete two matches for the Riverside City College women's indoor volleyball team on Friday as they traveled to San Bernardino Valley College to participate in the SBVC quad. Riverside made quick work of host San Bernardino Valley and West Los Angeles leading to a pair of victories.

GAME ONE

The Tigers utilized a grip of players to get the job done offensively with at least seven players earning two or more kills and 11 players recording at least one point. Freshman Hailey Gray acted as the facilitator and involved nine players with at least one kill. She finished the day with 13 assists to pace her squad.

Freshman Josephine Sua was the beneficiary of Gray's pin point setting en route to six kills which lead the team. She got it done on the defensive end as well by recording seven digs. Sophomore swinger Jasmine Urban followed with five kills and two service aces. She defended the net with a block solo and a block assist each.

Freshman Miranda Gates matched Urban's output with five kills. She added eight digs as well, tying sophomore libero Sadie Arganda's mark of eight digs.

Freshman Keeley Hober was a monster at the net by recording two solo stuffs while assisting on one.

GAME TWO

It was a cake walk for Riverside in the second match of the day by handling West LA with ease. Their defense got progressively stronger as they halted the Wildcats to single digit points in the final set.

Urban was the main offensive weapon as seen in 10 kills and three service aces. Gates only recorded one assist, but found the floor for seven service aces. She added seven digs as well.

Freshman middle Amara Hill was heavily involved with eight kills off 12 attempts, while freshman Katie Peterson found the flor on six kills.

Gray parlayed her hot hand in game one into game two with 19 assists to act as a career high. She added two services aces and four digs in the process. Sophomore Madison Hernandez recorded six assists, while Hober earned two more solo stuffs at the net and assisted on one.
