Riverside Handles Citrus in Three Sets

The woman's indoor volleyball team has kicked off the season on a high note as seen in winning three of their last four games. The Tigers continued to play strong on their home hardwood by hauling in their fourth win in the past five games in a victory over Cerritos in straight-set fashion.

Riverside handled the Falcons with ease in all areas of the contest. They recorded hitting percentages over .280 in the opening two sets to prove their dominance. Cerritos did not record a single set kill percentage in the positive direction. Furthermore, the Tigers acted as a brick wall at the net by recording 14 block assists and two solo stuffs.

Sophomore attacking tandem Marcella Rodriguez and Kiara Oregon paced the Tigers by recording seven kills each. Rodriguez was the most efficient out of the pair by earning a .238 kill percentage. She also added 13 digs and a pair of aces.

The middles for Riverside were as strong as they have been all year. Sophomores Madison Bogh and Lauren Dunmore combined for 11 kills with Bogh earning six of them. Dunmore was a member of four block assist, while Bogh was responsible for two.

The setter duties were shared as sophomore Taylor Gardner paved the way with 14 assists. Freshman Robyn Collier earned 11 assists. Sophomore libero Natalie Escher chipped in five assists as well.

Riverside (6-3) will continue action at home on Wednesday, September 19 for the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) opener against the Orange Coast College Pirates. First set is scheduled for 6 p.m.
