Freshman outside hitter Lauren Underwood (Canyon HS) knocked down 23 kills and freshman outside hitter Serena LeDuff (West Ranch HS) added 17 kills to pace Canyons to the non-conference win at Riverside Wednesday (Sept. 18) evening.
Sophomore setter Jordan Carter (Apple Valley HS) dished out a match-high 53 assists and added 13 digs for Canyons (4-1). Sophomore libero Cassidy Fitzpatrick (Hart HS) had a match-high 17 digs and sophomore opposite hitter Brielle Walker (La Crescenta HS) added 16 digs for the Cougars.
Sophomore OH Deborah Catanese (Christian Heritage HS) led Riverside (2-4) with 14 kills, sophomore setter Jennifer Norton added 34 assists and sophomore OH Cherylain Dizon (Redlands East Valley HS) added 11 digs.
Both teams return to action on Friday, Sept. 20. Canyons will participate in the San Diego Mesa College Tournament, while Riverside will host Cerro Coso (12 p.m.) and Allan Hancock Colleges (3 p.m.) in the Riverside Quad Tournament.
