The Tigers, losing 3-0, remain inferior to #2 ranked Orange Coast

RIVERSIDE (10-31-2012) – The Tigers (8-9, 3-7 OEC) lost for the second time this season to power house Orange Coast College (16-0, 10-0 OEC). The visiting Pirates did not feel any disadvantage on the road as they convincingly won three consecutive sets 25-12, 25-22, and 25-16. The Tigers got behind 11-3 early in the first match and could not recover. The Tigers could not keep up with the Pirates' knack for getting kills. Orange Coast College out-tallied Riverside in kills in each set: 11-8, 14-8, and 18-6. Orange Coast College's Karlee Riggs, second in the state in total kills and first in the state in kills per set, pierced the Tiger defense with 22 kills. Riverside was led by Kayla Johns with nine kills (.500 kill percentage) and Jennifer Norton with 21 assists. Riverside will play at Fullerton on Friday at 6 p.m. When Riverside faced Fullerton at home on October 10th, the Tigers won an exciting comeback 3-2 victory.
