Women’s Track & Field Hauls in the Bronze at SoCal Regionals

The Riverside City College women's track & field team returned to Moorpark College to compete in the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Southern Regional Finals. The Tigers placed third overall after a team score of 85 points that stretched across the board.

Riverside had a heavy dose of points in sprints (27), throws (26) and relays (20).

Alejandra Rosales, who was recently named the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Female Field Athlete of the Year, pocketed all throwing points for the Tigers. After placing first overall in the Shot Put (12.61m) and third overall in the Hammer (43.52m), she capped her regional showing with a dominant first place mark in the Discus (42.77m).

Riverside placed first in both relays starting with a photo finish mark in the 4 x 100 M Relay (47.08). They completed the day with a gold medal finish in the 4 x 400 M Relay (3:54.47) after winning by three seconds. Zoe Ewell, Hailey Hunt, Kayla Johnson and Briana Olujoka shaped both lineups.

Ewell led the field and was tabbed the fastest in Southern California with a top finish in the 100 M (11.77). She defeated the second-place finisher by a tenth of a second. Hunt placed third in the 200 M (42.45) by a slim margin and followed with a bronze medal finish in the 100 M (11.93).  Olujoku placed fourth in the 400 M (58.48) as well.

Brianna Rodriguez qualified in the 3000 M Steeplechase (12:03.04) after placing fourth overall.
