Women’s Track & Field Snaps Tape in Relay, Qualifies Marks at SoCal Regional

The Riverside City College women's track and field team traveled to Moorpark College on Friday to participate in the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Southern Regional Prelims. The Tigers had a strong qualifying day leading into the regional finals next week.

Alejandra Rosales earned the regional championship in the Shot Put (12.61m) by a landslide. It is her second-consecutive championship mark leading into the state championships in two weeks.

Zoe Ewell, Hailey Hunt, Kayla Johnson and Briana Olujoku snapped the tape in the 4 x 100 M Relay (47.51) by four one hundredths of a second for a true photo finish. Hunt continued on to place second in the 200 M (24.34), while Ewell (25.10) qualified with her mark landing her sixth overall.

Two Tigers qualified in the 1500 M with Elani Huntley (5:04.70) placing sixth and Helena Valdez (5:05.86) following in eighth place. Olujoku earned a qualifying mark in the 400 M (59.13) which landed her in seventh place.

Laila Wright qualified in the 800 M (2:22.38) which earned her the seventh best clip.
