Women’s Track & Field Makes Waves at OEC Prelims

The Riverside City College women's track & field team traveled to Golden West College on Friday to participate in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) prelims. The Tigers had a strong day as they qualified a deep number of student-athletes leading into the championship finals next Friday.

Hailey Hunt snapped the tape in the 100 M (12.21), while Zoe Ewell (12.24) finished slightly behind her in second place. The duo continued on to perform well as Hunt placed first in the 200 M (24.68), while Ewell (25.03) placed third.

Laila Wright and Elani Huntley finished consecutively in the 800 M with Wright (2:27.09) placing first and Huntley (2:27.89) trailing in a photo finish.

Alejandra Rosales was leaps and bounds the best thrower with a dominant first-place finish in the Shot Put (41' 5 ¼"). She also placed second overall in the Javelin (96' 3").

Brianna Rodriguez was the lone participant and qualifier in the 3000 M Steeple Chase (12:44.90) and also finished second in the 10,000 M (42:35.19). Soleil Russo (44:27.18) finished third overall.
