Women's Tennis Snags Conference Win, Carrillo Bags Seventh-Straight Win

After dropping its first two Orange Empire Conference (OEC) matches, the Riverside City College women's tennis team hit the road to face off against the Cypress College Chargers on Tuesday afternoon. Riverside leaned on the bottom half of their lineup to get the job done by the final score of 6-3.

Highlighting the bunch was sophomore Adrielle Fotchi and Monica Carrillo. The duo paired up at the second doubles position and worked to an easy 8-2 win. It was their second-consecutive doubles victory and their fourth in the last five matches.

Carrillo has been on a tear in the singles arena as she is yet to lose a match this season. She cruised to a commanding 6-0, 6-1 victory as the fourth player. Fotchi followed with a three set win at 6-4, 4-6, 10-8.

Freshman Christa McDowell and Hailey Dunkel earned a commanding 8-0 win as the third doubles team, while both of them earned singles victories to seal the deal. Dunkel had a flawless 6-0, 6-0 win, while McDowell pocketed a 6-1, 6-0 crown.
