Women’s Tennis Leans on Bottom Half to Haul in Fourth Straight

The Riverside City College women's tennis team is riding a hot streak after reigning supreme in its opening three matches of the season. They looked to keep the momentum in an upward trend by hitting the road against for a non-conference showdown against the San Diego City College Knights. The Tigers worked a 6-3 victory behind another strong showing from their bottom portion of the lineup.

Two doubles victories set the tone early with sophomore Adrielle Fotchi and Monica Carrillo earning an 8-2 win at the second position. Freshman Alex Livingston worked her way into the lineup and joined forces with sophomore Hailey Dunkel at the third slot. They dominated leading to an 8-0 win.

Sophomore Susana Iniguez and freshman Kaden Richards were edged out in a close one at the top position, falling 7-9.

Fotchi carried her strong singles play into today's showdown earning a two sert win at 6-1, 6-1. Carrillo followed with a 6-1, 6-1 victory, while Dunkel earned a flawless 6-0, 6-0 win at the fifth position. It was her highest starting slot in her career.

Livingston capped her collegiate debut with a strong 6-2, 6-2 win to seal the victory.

Richards battled at the top spot in a 5-7 opening set loss. She proceeded to drop the second set, 0-6. Iniguez was downed at the second position, 1-6, 3-6.
