Women’s Tennis Sweeps MSJC, Bags Second-Straight Win

The Riverside City College women's tennis team made quick work of the Mt. San Jacinto College Eagles on Tuesday afternoon as they faced off in a non-conference showdown on the road. The Tigers dominated by not dropping a single set leading to a 9-0 win.

The Tigers got off to a strong start by sweeping doubles play with ease. Freshman Kaden Richards and sophomore Susana Iniguez had the closest match at the top position, but cruised to an easy 8-2 win. Sophomore Adrielle Fotchi and Monica Carrillo earned an 8-1 win at the second slot, while sophomore Hailey Dunkel and freshman Christa McDowell matched with an 8-1 win as the third pairing.

All singles matches lasted a mere two sets with Riverside continuing to press down on the gas pedal. Richards earned a two-set win at 6-1, 7-6 (9) at the top spot, while Iniguez pocketed her first singles win of the season at 6-2, 6-2. She acted as the number two. 

Fotchi followed with her first singles win at the third position at 6-2, 6-0, while Carrillo bagged her second-straight singles win at 6-1, 6-1. McDowell followed with a 6-2, 6-2 win, while Dunkel had the most dominating showing at the sixth spot with a 6-0, 6-0 victory.
