Women's Tennis Works 5-4 Win over Santa Barbara

The Riverside City College women's tennis team hit the road on Friday to face off against the formidable Santa Barbara City College Vaqueros in non-conference action. The Tigers found themselves in a dog fight, but two strong doubles victories handed them the edge leading to a 5-4 win.

Sophomore tandem Hannah Stevenson and Monica Madrid gave the Tigers an advantage with an 8-2 win at the third spot, backed by an 8-3 win from freshman Keeley Arendt and sophomore Miranda Cardenas at the second position.

Stevenson continued on to make quick work of her singles opponent by the final count of 6-2, 6-2. Cardenas followed with a 6-1, 6-0 victory, backed by a victory from sophomore Torrey Mateljan. She capped the contest with her sores reding 6-1, 7-5.

Riverside (2-0) will continue action at home on Tuesday, February 4 at 2 p.m. against the El Camino College Warriors.
